Odor Control: Most “complete and balanced” commercial pet foods were developed to provide the “average” cat with a level of nutrients to support a “normal” lifestyle. Unfortunately, not all cats have the same digestive capabilities and may be unable to assimilate all pet food ingredients in the same manner. Also, as pets age, digestive functions may slow. Some of the effects of incomplete nutrient digestion and absorption include strong fecal, urine and body odors. Improper or declining levels of enzymes produced by the body as well as the cooking and processing of pet foods may also result in the incomplete breakdown certain food ingredients, causing unpleasant breath and body odors as well as strong urine and stool smells.
